What the pup?

So yesterday I went with my friend Jess, to Petsmart so she could get some toothpaste for her dog Bender. Well it was pet adoption day. Jessica squealed with delight when she saw all the animals, and immediately rushed over to all the cages to peek at all the cute and abandoned animals. I nagged her to not, because it always makes me so sad, and I always end up finding one that just I absolutely love, and send a picture to Kory, (who usually always tells me all the reasons why it is a bad idea) and the whole process is just painful. Well yesterday, it was the same, I found a dog, a beautiful Rottweiler named "Celeste" (I know, not the best dog name) she was just breath taking, and so mild and so soft and gentle. She looked at me with her big brown eyes, and she just stole my heart. So I called Kory, and he said "Will they let you take her for a test drive" (to see how she does with Zoe) so I asked, and sure enough they do a foster program, where you can take the dog for as long as you want to see if it will adjust to your family! What did we have to lose right? So Jess and I both excitedly picked up some puppy treats, and took her to get a scrub down at this great groomer "rub-a-dub doggie" which is like a self serve car wash for dogs! (i'ts next to Sams club in provo) She was soo cooperative and good.
Her coat and such cleaned up really well, and she smelled GREAT!

Then we took her home to meet Kory and Zoe. Kory (like I thought) found her absolutely breathtaking. Zoe on the other hand, was scared to death! Which is what we are working on right now. We are hoping that she will calm down and just relax, and not panic every time she comes in the room, so we can keep her, but if she doesn't we have to have them take her back.

But here are some pictures of her for you all to see...

She kind of looks scary here, but I love her coloring on her face and browsZoe, this is her safety, this is where she resides when big dogs are around.
When you try to play with her she just rolls over and asks for a tummy rub, (sound familiar Kyle?)

OH WHAT FUN!

Don't you just love it when you learn something new? Well last night at my wards Enrichment I learned how to etch on glass! It was such a fun activity, and my pieces turned out AWESOME! (thanks to my cricut!) I just wanted to show you all how cool they are!

I also started a new job this week! I am so far liking it a lot, even though I don't work from home anymore, it is nice to get out of the house, and to have hours...but don't get me started on that :)

Butterfly

So let me start this by first saying that since marrying into the Anderson family I have found it EXTREMELY hard to remember any of my nieces and nephews birthdays, and I am sure it has something to do with the fact that there are over 70, but also I think it has a lot to do with the fact that no one wants to "burden" anyone else with their kids parties or reminders. (My family on the other hand, we only get together on birthdays, and I guess I expected that to be the case here too.) Not that either of these ways is the right way I just don't have a system in place to help me remember birthdays. And lets just be honest, Kory is not much help reminding me either. I believe he still owes presents to a LOT of people, I won't mention names, but I am sure you know who you are.

So it's not that I don't try, I usually just don't know about it until one of these events happens...

1. I get an invite to a birthday party,(even if it is not the child's birthday that day, I know when and where to bring a gift, this goes with siblings as well) so this is helpful, but this occurrence is RARE.

Or this happens

2. I get a polite reminder from the said child that TODAY is in fact their birthday. (and believe me, this has happened a few times) I believe Coles words were "Uhhh Amy did you know today was my Birthday?" To that I responded "It is? Happy birthday! What do you want for your birthday?!" To that he responded very sadly and disappointed, "All I wanted were some Sea Animals."

And I don't blame Cole for this, in fact I was quite grateful that he had mustered enough courage to remind me that I had promised him sea animals for his birthday, and it was time to pay up.

Now with that being said, I had another such encounter from my niece Maggie back in December. She came up to me at the Anderson Family Christmas party to show me her very cute boots. I of course beamed to her about how those boots were in fact the prettiest pair of boots I had ever seen! (If you know the girl, this type of enthusiasm is required) She then ever so politely said to me in her angelic voice "Uhhh Amy? Did you know today is my Birthday?" To which I exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, I did not, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! What do you want for your birthday?" To which she responded with out hesitation, "A butterfly!"

So, I thought, and I thought and I thought about where to get a butterfly? Weeks went by and then I was discussing with Kory some of my ideas, and he said, "why don't you just make her a huge one out of your vinyl?" I of course thought this idea was INGENIOUS, as many of his ideas are, but went to work right away.

Needless to say it took me a few tries, but it worked out perfectly. And last night we brought it to her.

She really liked the ribbon I tied on the package...
She was kind of mad at me for giving her this Popsicle stick...I believe her exact words "What the heck is this for?"
Lynus kept standing in front of the camera every time we tried to take a picture of her with the butterfly.

But we eventually got one.
Andy was a GREAT helper and read all the instructions to me on how to put it on the wall. And he said "My Turn" after I took Maggie and Lynus picture in front of the butterfly, I thought he is probably my favorite person to take pictures of, he is ALWAYS so willing.
And then Lynus wanted another turn in front of the butterfly. :)

HAPpy NEW YEAR!

On New Years Eve we had our good friends the Flygares and PJ come over for stuffed french toast (That was Jess' idea) and Rock Band!

The french toast turned out much better than we all hoped. It got a little sketchy at first, and we doubted Jess' idea, but it actually turned out and they were very delicious! So thanks Jess for your creativity, and I got give props to your pregnancy cravings as well.

Then it was on to Rock band! Kory got the New Rock Band 2 game for christmas to add to his collection, so we broke that out, and rocked our hearts out.

We had so much fun playing rock band that we totally missed the count down.... oops :) They say that whatever you are doing when the new year rolls around will continue into the next ten fold! So here is to a year full of GREAT friends, (and they really are awesome friends, we couldn't ask for better ones) and a year full of ROCK & ROLL!

We used this KRUSTBUSTER that jess brought over to make our stuffed french toast.
THE BAND:
PJ aka "OH SNAP" on the Base
Kory aka "TORTURE MASTER"on the drums,
Jess aka "KILLER MASTER 1 " on vocals,
Skyler aka "NERD BOY" on Guitar
and of course me aka "Cinnamon Stix" as the band photographer. :)
Some grub and stuff...
